Fans of the country music legend Dolly Parton were in for a huge surprise recently when she revealed that she has a “secret song” locked away at her Dollywood DreamMore Resort that will not be released until 2045.

Parton, 74, revealed this in her new memoir “Songteller: My Life in Lyrics,” saying the song has never been heard by anyone else. Her team came up with the idea as a marketing project, and the song is said to be locked up in a chestnut wood box (built by her uncle) in a glass display case.

“It would be a song that will never be heard until 30 years from the time we opened the resort. They said, ‘You’ll be long dead,'” Parton wrote, according to Taste of Country. “I said, ‘Well, maybe not. I’ll be 99. I’ve seen people live to be older than that.'”

“That’s like burying one of my kids, putting it on ice or something, and I won’t be around to see it brought back to life,” she added. “It’s just burning me up inside that I have to leave it in there.”

Parton went on to explained that the mysterious song is on a CD, and she included a CD player in the box, just in case people in 2045 wouldn’t know how to play it!

“Hopefully, it will play and the whole thing ain’t rotted,” she said jokingly. “Anyway, it’s kind of weird or strange that they would ask me to write this mystery song. I don’t know if I want to live to be 100 or not. But you never know. I might, and if I do, I’m going to be at that opening.”

Fox News reported that the country music icon opened Dollywood in East Tennessee back in 1986, and she lists it as one of her proudest accomplishments in life. The facility has since grown to include rides, memorabilia, theaters and a water park, bringing joy to millions of people every year.

“Dollywood is one of the greatest dreams that I’ve ever had come true,” Parton once told News 24. “I am so proud of that I can’t even begin to tell you. Dollywood is real special to me.”
