Yesterday, we reported that Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from her husband Brandon Blackstock went off the rails after he asked for $436,000 in monthly spousal and child support. Now, Clarkson is speaking out to admit that going through a divorce is “horrible.”

While talking to the bestselling “Untamed” author Glennon Doyle and Alicia Keys on her talk show, Clarkson opened up about her divorce from Blackstock, who is the father of her two children River, 6, and Remington, 4.

“I’m going through one right now. It’s horrible,” she said of her divorce. “There are so many hard parts. The hardest for me is the kids. That’s the hardest for me.”

“I think, as women especially, we’re trained… to take it all on, and you can deal with it, and you’re fine, but it’s your babies that you worry about,” Clarkson added.

This came after court documents came out confirming that Clarkson’s divorce had taken a nasty turn.

“The level of conflict between the parents has increased,” the documents stated. “The parties have a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them.”

“Brandon’s been equally unreasonable in his requests for child and spousal support, as well as attorney fees,” a source told People Magazine. “Kelly’s offered to pay for all the kids’ expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is entitled to and needs $301K in spousal support and $135K in child support per month.”

If Blackstock gets his way, he’ll be getting $5.2 million per year from Clarkson.

“Additionally, he’s already asked for $2M for attorney fees when he’s the one driving up the cost of the divorce with seven attorneys just representing him alone,” the source continued.

Clarkson was “pleased” to get one victory, however, as she has been awarded primary custody of the two children.

“As Kelly has said, her first priority in all of this is to take care of the kids and all the hearts that are involved in this divorce,” another source explained. “It’s been a hard time for everyone, but Kelly’s pleased with the court’s ruling regarding custody.”

“Divorce is hard and it gets tense for most couples going through it. But Kelly’s primary focus is on doing the best she can to protect the kids,” the insider added. “In this case, she had to fight for them since Brandon and his attorneys were making unreasonable requests.”
