It’s been less than two months since the country music singer Blake Shelton finally popped the question to his girlfriend of five years, Gwen Stefani, yet a source close to the couple is already saying that they will be tying the knot sooner rather than later.

“This won’t be a long engagement,” the source told People Magazine. “There is a reason why Blake proposed now. They are both ready to get married.”

The source went on to say that Shelton and Stefani, who met when they were both coaches on “The Voice,” “don’t want a huge wedding. They want their family and close friends to attend and that’s it.”

This comes days after another source said that Shelton plans to marry Stefani “early next year” in a chapel that he built himself on his ranch in Oklahoma.

“Blake built a chapel on the grounds of his Oklahoma ranch. He did it himself with help,” a source told US Weekly, adding that Stefani gave her “input” on the construction.

“It’s really a tribute to their love,” the insider continued. “They are going to get married in the chapel, most likely early next year.”

A third source said that Shelton asked Stefani’s sons with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale – Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6 – for permission before he popped the question.

“Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission,” said a source close to Stefani. “Her family very much approves of him. He’s an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise.”

As Shelton and Stefani plan their future together, they are taking every little detail into account, even a prenuptial agreement.

“They have been in prenup talks for a few months,” an insider said last month. “The process has been extremely effortless.”

Last year, it was reported that Stefani had started “the formal process” of having her previous marriage annulled by the Catholic church. While a source said earlier this year that she was “committed to getting the annulment, no matter how long it took,” it’s since been revealed that she no longer wants to wait to marry Shelton.

Now that she is preparing to marry Shelton, a source close to Stefani said that she is still hoping to do so in a way that is recognized by the church.

“The Vatican has also indicated, informally, that Gwen’s petition to have her marriage to Gavin annulled will also be granted,” the insider explained. “It hasn’t been formally made yet, but all indications are [that] Gwen will have her Catholic wedding to Blake.”
