Betty White is one of the most iconic stars in Hollywood after a decades-long career that dates all the way back to the 1940s and includes starring on such beloved shows as “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls.” The legendary actress is getting ready to turn 99 next month on January 17, and a source close to her has come forward to reveal what her birthday plans are amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic won’t stop Betty from celebrating turning 99 years old,” the insider told Closer Weekly. “She’s planning a Zoom garden party with friends and a big chocolate birthday cake with candles. She’s always had a sweet tooth! She [also] asked for hotdogs and fries with ketchup.”

The source went on to assure fans that White “certainly won’t be short of attention on her birthday,” explaining that despite “limit the number of people” she comes in contact with “because of her age,”  she will not be alone.

“She has a full-time nurse and helper she adores, who will be there on her birthday,” the insider continued. “They’ve become friends and she enjoys the company.”

White usually “does something big” for her birthday, but that of course can’t happen this year because of coronavirus. Nevertheless, the actress plans to maintain a positive attitude on her birthday by spending time looking at the many “letters,” “birthday cards” and other “amazing gifts” that have been sent by her adoring fans.

“She’s [also] received handmade knitted scarves, ornaments and portraits they’ve painted,” the source added. “She feels so proud and blessed to have such a huge following and never takes her fans for granted!”

Since White is in her late 90s, she’d be considered high risk for complications from COVID-19, so she’s taken quarantine extremely seriously. She’s still managed to have fun in isolation, however, as the source said that she has been “enjoying spending time in her spacious garden.”

“She’s at her happiest when she’s surrounded by nature and animals and loves bird-watching!” the insider continued. “She’s taken the opportunity to wind down and switch off a little.”

White had said back in May that she feels “blessed” to have “incredibly good” health.

“That’s something you appreciate a lot,” she said back in May.
