Friday was the 21st anniversary of the day that the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant met his beloved wife Vanessa. To mark the occasion, Vanessa took to her private Instagram page to post a touching photo of her and Kobe hugging at Disneyland.

“Love at first sight 11/27/99 #21,” Vanessa wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.

Kobe and Vanessa married in 2001 and went on to have four daughters, Natalia, 17, Gianna, 13, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 1. Sadly, Kobe and Gianna were killed in a helicopter crash back in January along with seven other people.

Last year, just two month before his death, Kobe took to Instagram to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of him meeting his “best friend” Vanessa.

“On this day 20 years ago I met my best friend, my Queen @vanessabryant,” he wrote alongside a throwback photo of the couple. “I decided to take her on a date to Disneyland tonight to celebrate old school style (pre 4princesses) I love you my mamacita per sempre.”

Back in September, Vanessa’s good friend La La Anthony gave an update about how she is helping the widow get through the devastating losses of her husband and daughter.

“Well, you know, I’m a real friend, that’s what friends do,” Anthony told Entertainment Tonight of her support for Vanessa. “You know, you don’t dip out on your friends when it gets really hard. And she’s going through something that is unimaginable, that, you know, I can’t even fathom what that feels like. So, just to be a friend and be there to make her laugh when she needs to, cry when she needs to, is a beautiful thing. But that’s what friends do for each other, you know, so I’m always going to be there for her and the girls and just, you know, want to see her just continue to be strong and amazing.”

“I talk to [Vanessa] every day,” Anthony added to People Magazine last week. “I talk to her every single day. And I just always say, ‘Continue to send her great energy and pray for her.’ That’s important and just trying to be a great friend. But when you’re friends with somebody, you don’t have to try, you just do.”
