The Hollywood star Tim Allen celebrated the upcoming Christmas season on Tuesday by taking to Twitter to post a bearded selfie of himself, a clear throwback to his character in the 1994 movie The Santa Clause.

Allen joked alongside the selfie that his beard appeared overnight, which is exactly what happened in the movie.

“Woke up this morning and noticed a bit more stubble,” he wrote. “This always happens to me as I transition to you no [sic] who this Christmas.”

Fox News reported that in The Santa Clause, Allen played a businessman who accidentally knocked Santa off his roof. With Santa gone, Allen’s character soon finds himself turning into the man himself as he develops a big belly, a full head of white hair and a long beard. Though he tries to combat this by shaving and working out, the Santa features just keep appearing on him!

After Allen’s character finally visits the North Pole, the elves explain to him that he’s the new Santa, and the rest of the film revolves around him reluctantly agreeing to work Christmas. The movie has brought joy to families everywhere around Christmas for the past 26 years!

Two sequels have since been made, The Santa Clause 2, which premiered in 2002, and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, which premiered in 2006. Allen has starred in other Christmas movies as well, including Christmas with the Kranks in 2004 and El Camino Christmas in 2017.

This comes just after it was revealed that Allen’s sitcom “Last Man Standing” will be ending after its upcoming ninth season.

“I’ve been one lucky dude to have been part of ‘Last Man Standing,’” Allen said when it was announced the show was ending. “I so appreciate the incredible support from our fans over this near decade of work. As we approach the ninth season, I just admire and feel grateful for all the hard work our wonderful cast and crew have done.”

“We had all considered to end the show after last season but, together with FOX, we decided to add a year so we could produce a full season to create the gentle and fun goodbye,” he added. “I’m looking forward to a memorable and hilarious final season.”
