The Academy Award winner Sophia Loren is an 86 year-old Hollywood legend who has accomplished many things throughout her long life. Despite this, she still has one major regret that continues to eat away at her to this day.

“It’s very hard to say you have no regrets,” Loren told Radio Times magazine this week as she prepares to make her onscreen comeback in the new Netflix movie The Life Ahead.

“In life, you always go through so many experiences, but I have always tried to live with no regrets,” she added. “I think I’ve reached a peaceful life. I have everything I ever wanted, which is a wonderful family with beautiful children and beautiful grandchildren. The only thing I regret a little is that I never got married in a white dress. That was the dream of my life, which is still inside me.”

Loren married film producer Carlo Ponti, who was 22 years older than her, in 1966. They remained married until he passed away in 2007 at the age of 94. Last year, Loren revealed the secret behind her decades-long marriage to Ponti.

“My only marriage,” she said at the time. “I married once in life, and that was a wonderful marriage. It was a marriage of love. It was a wonderful moment in my life. We have two beautiful children, and my family is always with me, always around me… I never forget.”

Loren also recently opened up about what keeps her going these days.

“Life,” Loren explained to Fox News . “Because I find if you don’t take the opportunity to do things at the right time, what are you waiting for?… And my family inspires me. I have two beautiful children and they gave me children. So for me, I’m always surrounded by a great, great love every day. I think every day is an opportunity for life, to do something you want to do. That inspires me… You just love yourself and you love what you do.”

Loren also said that despite her decades-long career in Hollywood, she has no intention to look back on her legacy anytime soon.

“Oh, it’s a little bit too early to think about that. To be remembered? I’m still alive,” she chuckled “I’m full of pep! I’m full of things I want to do. It’s a little bit premature to think about that. No, no, no — it’s too early.”
