Last month, we reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have allegedly decided not to return to the United Kingdom with their 1 year-old son Archie for Christmas this year, instead choosing to stay at their home in Santa Monica, California for the holiday. Now, sources are saying that Harry’s family is “disappointed” that they won’t be seeing baby Archie over the Christmas holiday.

An insider close to Harry and Meghan confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that it is “fully anticipated that [the couple] will be at home in California and not be in the U.K. for Christmas.” Another source added that the royal family is extremely “disappointed” that they won’t get to see Archie over the holiday season.

This source went on to say that Harry and Meghan “have not finalized any specific plans yet for the holiday period.”

This comes weeks after an insider said that Harry and Meghan had actually gotten closer to the royal family amidst the coronavirus pandemic, with the source claiming that reports of drama amongst the family were greatly exaggerated.

“A lot of the family-specific drama that the tabloids are focused on, it’s not as fractured as the tabloids would like it to seem,” the source alleged. “The pandemic has brought the family closer together.”

However, weeks later, it was reported that Harry and Meghan would “not return anytime soon” to the United Kingdom. This was in direct contrast to previous claims that Harry was planning to go back to visit the U.K. at some point soon.

“Things can obviously change, if there’s a concern about family health, but they are not hopping over the pond anytime imminently,” this source said, adding that the royals are all adhering to “social isolation guidelines” amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

A friend of Harry and Meghan’s recently said that they are “incredibly excited” for Christmas this year, as they feel that Archie can be actively “involved” in it for the first time.

“Christmas is Meghan’s favorite holiday and she cannot wait to get into the festive spirit. She and Harry will buy a ginormous Christmas tree for the new house and will decorate it as a family,” the source told Closer Weekly. “They’re excited about getting Archie involved this year and will let him pick out a couple of ornaments to put on the tree.”
