Queen Elizabeth is reportedly being forced to choose which of her relatives can celebrate Christmas with her, and new reports indicate that she is considering banning her grandson Prince William from the festivities because of the coronavirus lockdowns.

Page Six reported that like the rest of the United Kingdom, the 94 year-old Queen can only celebrate Christmas with two other households. Given the fact that both she and her 99 year-old husband Prince Philip are at advanced ages, the Queen must be especially cautious when it comes to who she celebrates the holidays with.

It’s been reported that William may be barred from celebrating with the Queen because of the heightened risk of COVID-19 spread from his children, George, 7, Charlotte, 5, and Louis, 2. A source said the fact that the children have been mixing with others at school will “clearly” be taken into account in the decision on whether or not they can see the Queen for Christmas.

If William can’t see the Queen, his plan is to spend Christmas with the parents of his wife, Kate Middleton. The final announcement on who the Queen will celebrate Christmas with is expected to come out soon.

“They will sort it out between them; it will be about what’s practical,” a source said.

The Queen is currently isolating at Windsor Castle with her 99 year-old husband, Prince Philip. She reportedly hasn’t yet decided if she will stay there or move to her Sandringham estate in Norfolk for the traditional Christmas and New Year’s holiday.

“Christmas is something the Queen has always done with enormous, genuine family style, and is facing not doing so sadly,” royal biographer Robert Lacey, author of “Battle of Brothers,” told People Magazine. He added that “she is accepting of that.”

Meanwhile, the Queen’s grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are preparing to host their own Christmas celebration across the world in Montecito, California. They will be celebrating the holiday there with their 1 year-old son Archie and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

The Queen has reportedly already canceled the annual sparkling reception for diplomats and embassy staffs, which typically takes place at Buckingham Palace early in December. She’s also canceled the holiday party for her extended family that she usually holds at the palace later in the month.
