A royal insider has come forward to suggest that Meghan Markle has gone into panic mode as she’s realized that she and her husband Prince Harry are no longer seen as the “golden couple” months after they stepped down as senior members of the British royal family and moved across the world to her hometown of Los Angeles, California.

“Meghan is well aware that she and Harry are no longer the golden couple,” the source said, according to The Telegraph. “Prince William and Kate can do no wrong now as far as the UK is concerned, whereas she and Harry are seen as a self-interested couple who quit the Royal Family to pursue their own interests.”

“Meghan hopes to turn things around and show people how committed to doing good she is, and for them to see a different, more positive side to her,” the insider added. “Whilst this isn’t crisis management as such, given her popularity ratings right now, it’s not far off. She’s taken on two ambitious, smart, career-driven women who have her best interests at heart.”

This comes after Meghan and Harry found themselves in hot water last week when they had a professional photographer take pictures of them observing Remembrance Day at a cemetery in Los Angeles. Royal expert Ingrid Seward explained that the photos “backfired” on the couple because many saw the images as a “publicity stunt.”

“The Sussex’s appeared to be on their own in the vast Los Angeles Cemetery,” Seward told The Sun. “Then we learn they had employed the services of celebrity fashion photographer to record their every scripted move.”

“Did they sit there amongst the graves with rapper Kanye West’s favorite snapper, Lee Morgan choosing which frames to use as he pulled them up on his iPad,” she added. “The Sussex’s wanted it to look like they cared, which I am sure they did. But it backfired and looked like what it was – a publicity stunt.”

Meghan’s own half-sister Samantha bashed the couple over the photos as well.

“Well, don’t get me started on the concept of photo scandals, because allegedly that was the reason she disowned our father,” Samantha told the U.K.’s talkRadio. “So I was a bit shocked to see that on such an important topic — Remembrance and gratitude towards so many who have sacrificed their lives so we can live as we do today, as Harry said — that gratitude would be shown by an exploitative photo opportunity over fallen heroes.”
