Two child magicians who appeared as contestants on “America’s Got Talent” were arrested last week amidst a heated custody battle.

The New York Post reported that brother and sister Kadan and Brooklyn Rockett form the magical act The Rocketts, and they made it all the way to the semifinals of “America’s Got Talent” in 2016. Last week, they were arrested in Louisiana for refusing to go with police officers who were trying to return them to their mother.

Kadan, 15, and Brooklyn, 13, have reportedly been living with their father for years in California, but a Missouri judge ruled that they needed to be handed over to their mother. In a tense exchange that was captured on video, the siblings told officers that they were afraid of their mother, and a cop responded by saying, “You do not have a choice, this is nothing to argue about. You have to go with us. Let’s go.”

“I’m asking you to go — or you will be arrested,” the officer added to them.

When they continue to refuse to comply, the officer grabs Kadan by the arm and slaps cuffs on him as Brooklyn sobs and wipes away tears. Their father can be heard saying, “I love you guys.”

The Rocketts’ parents divorced in 2010, and a bitter custody battle has been happening ever since. A similar confrontation between the siblings and Missouri police happened in October of last year. Since their arrest, the brother and sister have been freed, and they are reportedly back with their father at this time.

“My “babies” are FREE and SAFE!!!! I am not allowed to post any court details at this time because of a gag order but I can tell you they are free and safe!!! (and very very very happy and hungry right now!!!! ),” their dad posted to Facebook, along with a photo snapped at the detention center. “Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the prayers and support!!!! We can never say thanks enough. I have tears in my eyes trying to type this. It appears this lengthy nightmare may just be over.”

Kadan later wrote on his own Facebook page: “I’m going to write a book one day. Maybe even do a Lifetime movie.”
