Like millions of children all over America, Kelly Clarkson’s 6 year-old daughter River has been homeschooling for the past few months amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. During a recent episode of her eponymous talk show “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the singer and talk show host revealed the hilarious trick her daughter has been using to get out of doing school work on Zoom.

“My daughter does this thing … it’s quite funny,” Clarkson said. “She will do this [raises arms and holds completely still] and just pretend and just pretend that her screen [is frozen].”

“She’s six, she’s six!” she added. “I caught her being [frozen] and she’ll just pretend like she’s frozen so she doesn’t have to do what they’re asking her to do.”

While Clarkson admitted that she had to give her daughter “points for the comedy,” she added that she wishes the little girl would “reel it in.”

Clarkson, 38, is currently in the midst of divorcing Brandon Blackstock, who is father to River and her 4 year-old son Remington. She recently revealed that she has put her two young children in therapy to help protect their “little hearts” amidst this divorce.

“It’s just one day when you’re like, ‘Wow, this has forever changed and it’s not just my heart has changed, there’s other little hearts, too,'” Clarkson told Extra last month. “We have a lot of help as far as therapists or child psychologists ’cause we want to do it right.”

“I definitely want to do it right,” she added. “Everyone’s sad and it’s OK to be sad.”

Clarkson has said that she wants to be an “open book” about her divorce.

“I mean, if anything, I’ve fought my entire career just to be me,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Because most managers and publicists get nervous with me because I am an open book and labels and people frowned upon it early on. But, I don’t do it for anyone else, honestly.”

“I don’t know, I come from a small town, I’m used to everybody knowing everything anyway,” Clarkson added. “And, I don’t know, I feel like if you’re hiding something, there must be something wrong with it. And there’s nothing wrong with anything — life just kind of happens, and it takes turns that you don’t expect and are sad.”
