The Hollywood star John Travolta spoke out on Thursday to thank fans for their “incredible” support on his first Thanksgiving without his beloved wife Kelly Preston, who died back in July at the age of 57 after a battle with breast cancer.

Travolta, 66, appeared to be emotional as he addressed his fans in a heartfelt Instagram video.

“I want to take this moment to thank each and every one of you for supporting me in such an incredible way this year,” the actor said. “Happy Thanksgiving and always love.”

Preston’s death came as a shock to fans, as she had never revealed publicly that she was suffering from cancer at all. It was Travolta who announced her death online.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” he wrote on Instagram. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.  My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side.”

“Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered,” he added. “I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.  But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT.”

Olivia Newton-John, who starred with Travolta in Grease and is currently battling breast cancer for a fourth time, spoke out to pay tribute to Preston as well.

“She was a very a beautiful person, inside and out, and was beautiful to look at,” she said, according to Entertainment Tonight. “But she had a gentle spirit and I just feel so, so much for John and the children. It’s hard to put into words.”

Newton-John went on to say that Travolta and his family are “coping as well as you can imagine.”
