The family of Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence has just been hit with a devastating loss, as the summer camp they run in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky has been struck by a serious fire.

The main barn at Camp Hi-Ho, which is run by Lawrence’s family, burned down in the fire over the weekend.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm the news that we lost our barn last night in a horrible fire,” the official Camp Hi-Ho Facebook page stated. “We are deeply thankful that no people or animals were hurt, but we are still mourning the loss of years of hard work and memories that occurred in these walls.”

“Words cannot describe the pain we are in, but we are so incredibly grateful for the Simpsonville Fire Department and all the other fire fighters who responded to our emergency. You are true heroes,” the statement added. “We are also so grateful for the countless members of our community who have reached out to support us during this time. Your love and kindness mean the world to us. God’s goodness and protection is evident in this situation already, and our hope remains steadfast in Him, knowing that He is with us and in control of the steps ahead.”

“We know Camp Hi-Ho is a special place to so many, and we plan to rebuild and repair so that we can move forward with a safe and joyful camp experience this summer,” the post concluded.

WDRB reported that there was an unnamed female in the barn at the time of the fire, who was able to escape “without injury.” The publication added that “some small pets” were removed as well. Neighbors said the flames of the fire could be seen from miles away.

“From the back of our house, we just watched the flames and saw the fire trucks and emergency vehicles come through,” said neighbor Bennie Crowder.

Camp Hi-Ho has been serving thousands of children from the ages of 4 to 12 for over thirty years. The camp is run by the family of Lawrence, who is an Academy Award-winning star known for her roles in movies like The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook.
