Last year, the late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in prison while awaiting trial on various sex crime charges. Now, it’s been reported that officials are going above and beyond to ensure that the disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is not able to do the same thing.

Page Six reported that Weinstein, 68, is being monitored by cameras around the clock in prison to ensure that he can’t kill himself.  Law enforcement sources told TMZ that officials are so worried that Weinstein may harm himself that they don’t want him out of their sight for even a second. On top of the surveillance cameras, guards who are always trailing the former Hollywood mogul are equipped with eye-level cameras.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison earlier this year for the raping one woman and sexually assaulting another. He is serving his sentence at the Wende Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

Last month, we reported that Weinstein’s lawyers were trying to get a judge to release Weinstein on bail pending an appeal of his Manhattan rape conviction, arguing that he will likely die if he remains in prison. They also claimed that the man who was once arguably the most powerful figure in the movie business is now broke.

“[Weinstein’s] physical and mental condition has so deteriorated, I do not think it’s an overstatement to say that if he is not released as part of this application, his chances of surviving in prison are rather low,” said Barry Kamins, one of Weinstein’s attorneys.

Weinstein was recently hit with six new counts of forcible sexual assault in Los Angeles, California, and an extradition hearing has been scheduled for him in December.

Weinstein’s latest charges include four counts of rape, four counts of forcible oral copulation, two counts of sexual battery by restraint, and one count of sexual penetration by use of force. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said that the counts involve five women whose claims are from 2004 to 2013.

If convicted on all charges, Weinstein is facing 140 years in prison. He has denied all of the claims that have been made against him, saying that all of his sexual encounters have been consensual.
