Chilling video footage is going viral this week showing the moment a wild brawl erupted on a Spirit Airlines flight from New Jersey to Puerto Rico, with the fight starting after a female passenger refused to wear a mask.

The New York Post reported that Puerto Rico police said that the woman, who has since been identified as Nyasy Veronique Payne, “provoked an incident by acting in what witnesses called an aggressive, hostile, & defiant behavior.”

The incident reportedly started around 7PM on Sunday evening, just after the airplane had landed at Luis Munoz Marin Airport. CBS Lead National Correspondent David Begnaud stated that the brawl began after Payne struck 28-year-old Javier Lopez Cruz, another passenger on the plane.

A third passenger recorded the chaos that ensued, with the video showing a woman with a mask around her chin screaming at a man in a white t-shirt.

“Stop! Stop! Calm down!” someone can be heard shouting as the woman tries to attack the man.

Eventually, police are left with no choice but to tase Payne.

Begnaud wrote on Twitter that he had spoken to anther passenger named Alfredo, who said that the woman had been hit first before she went on the attack.

“Alfredo says during the flight, a young man was moving about the plane, switching seats and not wearing a mask. Flight attendants, according to Alfredo, instructed the man to stop switching seats & to wear his mask,” he tweeted. “The man didn’t stop. When the plane landed police were called.”

“3 women who Alfredo says appeared to be traveling with the young man were also not masks, most of the flight, & were moving around while the sets belt sign was on. The flights attendants – Alfredo says – asked the women to stay seated a wear a mask,” Begnaud added.

One on the ground, Alfredo says 3 men began yelling homophobic & racial slurs at the 3 women who are black,” he continued. “1 man, Alfredo says, hit one of the women, who then started punching. That’s the woman who’s seen on video throwing punches when the police make their way into the plane.”

Begnaud then posted an update that the woman had been arrested. She spent the night in jail, with her bail reportedly being set at $150,000.
