Princess Diana reportedly said that her marriage to Prince Charles was “hell from the start” and did not feel that he deserved to ever be king, according to bombshell relations made in a new documentary.

Three months before Diana opened up about her unhappy marriage in a famous interview with the BBC Panorama show in 1995, she reportedly described her private pain while talking to a renowned former newspaper editor Sir Max Hastings.

“She said I was terribly anxious for my side of this to come out. And I spent as part of a couple of hours with Diana and she put on a wonderful show. I mean, absolutely gripping stuff,” Hastings revealed in the new documentary “Diana: The Truth Behind the Interview.”

“It became clear, first of all. How much she hated Charles. Yes, she did hate Charles. And when I said ‘were there ever happy times?’ she said ‘no, the marriage was hell from day one,’” he added, going on to say that Diana was firmly focused on the prospects of her oldest son, Prince William.

“She said that all she cared about was William’s succession to the throne. She said to me quite explicitly — ‘I don’t think Charles can do it,'” Hastings explained, according to People Magazine. “The outcome she wanted to see was for Charles to stand aside as heir to the throne and for William to occupy the throne. This was pretty dynamic stuff.”

Hastings went on to add that he did not publish what Diana said at the time because he wanted to “keep a lid on the worst of this,” and thought that much of what Diana said “on several occasions” was “for the fairies.”

“She asked me what I knew about a conspiracy to have her put down. I said well, ‘it sounded absolutely crazy to me.’ But she, I think, did believe this sort of stuff,” he said, saying hat he felt “so desperately sorry her” in her “vulnerability.”

This came weeks before Diana dropped a bomb during her BBC Panorama interview, saying, “There were three of us in this marriage . . . so it was a bit crowded.” She was referring to Charles’ longterm affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, who is now his wife.

Diana was tragically killed in a car crash in Paris, France in 1997. She was only 36 years-old.
