Miley Cyrus has long been known for the tight bond that she shares with her father, country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus. That’s why it came as a particularly big surprise to her fans on Wednesday, when she revealed that her father was responsible for a serious head injury she suffered when she was only 2 years-old.

While appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Cyrus discussed the head injury she received during a dirt bike ride with her famous father when she was a toddler.

“It was bad,” said Cyrus, 27. “Everyone’s asked me [about] that for years.”

She went on to talk about how the accident happened.

“He had me in a baby backpack and I was on a dirt bike with my dad,” said Cyrus. “And he was riding, and a tree had fallen, and he ducked, and I didn’t, and I hit my head on the tree.”

“He can’t go to jail, I don’t think, because it’s a long enough time away,” she added.

This has never impacted the close relationship she has had with her dad, however, as she relished the opportunity to star with him on the Disney Channel show “Hannah Montana” from 2006-2011.

“It’s been really good to have [my dad] go before me, it’s kinda the buddy system,” Cyrus told Rogan.

“I think it would have been really scary if I hadn’t see[n] that [example],” she added of Billy Ray’s earlier fame as a country singer.

In this same interview, Cyrus discussed her “very public” divorce from Hollywood star Liam Hemsworth. She said the breakup “f*****g sucked” because of the “villainizing” she faced in the media after the split was made public.

“What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore,” Cyrus recalled. “That’s okay, I can accept that. I can’t accept the villainizing, and just all those stories.”

She added that the public never knew the full story when it came to her split with Hemsworth.

“It’s amazing to me the public thinks that there’s no gap of time that they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this,” Cyrus said. “It’s not, ‘One day you were happy on the carpet and the next day you were making out with your friend in Italy, what the f**k?’ There’s a lot of time in between that you didn’t see.”

While she is not looking for a relationship right now, Cyrus said that she would like her next one to be with an “older man.”

“I don’t need a man or a woman that’s gonna take care of me, I can take care of me. I need them to be able to take care of them, she explained.
