Megyn Kelly Launches Comeback With New Media Venture

Former television host Megyn Kelly is making her media comeback by launching her own podcasting company.

Kelly just announced that she is launching “Devil May Care Media,” which is set to debut the first episode of her new podcast, “The Megyn Kelly Show,” at the end of the month. Kelly told The Wall Street Journal that she is hoping this move will give her more of an opportunity to speak her mind.

“The No. 1 thing I wanted to do was control my own editorial,” she said. “To not be doing anyone else’s bidding, not having the pressure of corporate overlords over me, that means one has to be entrepreneurial.”

“With Devil May Care Media, I answer only to my audience and my conscience,” Kelly added. “Those who like what I have to say will find the experience deeply rewarding. Those who don’t can look elsewhere. The point is to give the audience authentic content that goes places where traditional media can’t or — more often — won’t.”

This is Kelly’s first return to media since she was released from her NBC contract back in 2019. She first became a household name as a host for Fox News, where she worked for twelve years before she was wooed away by NBC in 2017. However, she found herself in hot water late in 2018, when she was hit with backlash for questioning why blackface as part of a Halloween costume was racist or insensitive during a segment on her morning talk show.

Kelly is putting all of this behind her with her latest venture, as the 49 year-old is hoping that being her own boss will allow her to regain her voice and lead her own editorial agenda.

“I don’t want the political pressures of working for someone who’s dedicated to taking down Trump or defending him. I don’t want pressure to not say the right thing because it’s going to tick off one group or another,” she explained. “You can’t criticize Black Lives Matter because it’s going to upset some corporate sponsor. You can’t have an honest conversation about transgender rights without upsetting one group or another.”

Though “The Megyn Kelly Show” is going to be her company’s only podcast at the beginning, Kelly said that she is hoping to eventually produce shows from other hosts.
