Earlier this month, Simon Cowell was nearly paralyzed after he broke his back in an electric bike accident at his home in Malibu, California. Now, it’s been revealed that he has been replaced on “Britain’s Got Talent” in the wake of this injury, and that he will not be appearing in the finale of the show at all.

Though Cowell’s recovery is said to be going well, his doctors have ordered him to stay in Los Angeles while he recuperates and not to travel. That’s why producers of “Britain’s Got Talent” are looking for a replacement judge to take his place when the finale is filmed in two weeks.

“Everything is fixed, he just needs healing time,” a source told The Mirror. “Flying halfway across the world is not part of the plan and he has agreed to put his health first.”

After the accident, producers initially thought that Cowell could appear virtually on the show, but they have since decided against this.

“It was decided that the idea of having him judge the BGT finalists via a link was just not feasible – nor sensible,” the insider added.

This comes after Cowell’s ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour told “Extra” exactly what happened with this accident.

“On Saturday afternoon, Simon was in the courtyard of his Malibu home with Eric and Adam, and he wanted to show them his new electric bike,” she explained, referring to Cowell’s son and stepson.

“It’s very fast and very powerful,” Seymour added of the bike, which cost over $20,000. “I don’t think he realized how powerful it was, and he flew off the bike, landed on his back.”

Seymour confirmed that the break ”was 1 centimeter away from from his spinal cord, that is true.”

“It’s bad, and he is in agony. [But] it could have been so much so much worse,” she added. “He is going to need a lot of physical therapy.”

While Seymour said that Cowell will not be resuming filming of live “America’s Got Talent” shows on Tuesday night, she made sure to add that “you never rule anything out with Simon.”

“Recovery is going to be a long road ahead. He’s so determined,” she concluded. “He’s so upset to miss these live shows. It’s his baby — of course he wants to be there. Let’s just wait and see.”
