Kate Middleton has reportedly been left “devastated” by the claims made about her alleged feud with Meghan Markle in the new book “Finding Freedom, according to a royal expert.

Royal author Andrew Morton told New Idea that Kate is “devastated” by the claims made in the book, which was written by royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

“There’s no doubt the rift between Harry and William has deeply affected Kate. It upsets her,” Morton said.

Royal expert Phil Dampier agreed with this sentiment, saying that the book will do “little to heal the relationships” between Harry and his older brother, Prince William.

“I’m told that the pair are speaking at the moment, but the conversations are stilted and difficult,” Dampier said.

Though “Finding Freedom” claimed that Kate “did little to bridge the divide” with Meghan during her time in the royal family, Morton pointed out that the Duchess had “definitely sided with her husband.” He added that the divide between William and Harry is “just a very sad situation,” adding that the duo have now “gone their separate ways.”

Dampier added that Harry and Meghan have not issued any statements saying that the claims made in the book are false.

“They are quick to sue newspapers and paparazzi photographers,” he said. “So if they don’t condemn the content, we can assume they have no problem with the narrative.”

This comes after the U.K. Express reported that royal expert Russell Myers said members of the royal family are terrified about how they will be portrayed in “Finding Freedom.”

“This book is coming out, it’s called ‘Finding Freedom,'” Myers said. “It’s the unofficial biography of Harry and Meghan and royal aides are quite worried about what sort of light it’s going to paint Prince William in. He’s been called unsympathetic and unfeeling in the book. Royal aides have been meeting behind the scenes preparing for the worst.”

“Some say that it could be the Diana moment from the Panorama 1995 interview that we all remember when she spoke about the three people in the relationship,” Myers added. “The two authors behind this book have had unrivaled access to Harry and Meghan’s inner circle. They’ve interviewed over 100 people. It could be a very, very positive thing for Harry and Meghan but may paint other members of the Royal Family in a particularly bad light.”
