Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston just spoke out to discuss the highly anticipated “Friends” reunion being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Early reports indicated that the reunion would be going into production in mid-August, with Aniston being joined by her co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry, along with creators Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane. However, it has since been reported that plans to shoot the show over the summer have been scrapped because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Unfortunately it’s very sad that we had to move it again,” Aniston told Deadline. “It was, ‘How do we do this with live audiences?’ This is not a safe time. Period. That’s the bottom line. It’s not a safe time to do it.”

She went on to say that she’s trying to put a positive spin on the situation.

“It’s going to be super. You know what? This has also given us more time to make it even more exciting and more fun than it would have been,” Aniston said. “So I choose to see it as the glass is half full that it got postponed. Look, we’re not going anywhere. You’re never going to get rid of ‘Friends,’ sorry. You’re stuck with us for life, guys.”

The “Friends” reunion was actually initially scheduled to be filmed in April and air in May in conjunction with the release of the HBO MAX streaming platform, but the pandemic suspended these plans. All of the actors on the show have made it clear that they intend to film the reunion in person, despite some reports indicating that it would be virtual.

“There hasn’t really been any talk about doing it remotely,” Lisa Kudrow previously told reporters. “I mean, it was an immediate ‘no’ if this was brought up. That’s not what this is. We are not doing it remotely.”

This comes after Aniston opened up about the challenges she faced when it came to moving on with her career after playing the character of Rachel Green on “Friends.”

“I could not get Rachel Green off of my back for the life of me. I could not escape Rachel from ‘Friends,’ just Rachel from ‘Friends,’ it’s on all the time and you’re just like, ‘Stop playing this f—ing show,'” Aniston told The Hollywood Reporter. “I completely just fought with myself and who I was in this industry forever because it was just constantly about trying to prove I was more than that.”
