Fans of the Discovery Channel show “Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine” are in mourning today after the death of Jesse Goins, a gold miner who had become beloved on the show. He was 60 years-old.

Fox News reported that Goins was honored by his brother Larry Goins in a tribute on Facebook on Wednesday.

“Heaven will never be the same!! My brother Jesse went home to be with his Father, Lord and Savior. He will be missed dearly. Love you brother,” Larry wrote.

A spokesman for the Discovery Channel also confirmed Goins’ death.

“We are absolutely heartbroken to hear about Jesse Goins’ death. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family,” the network said.

While an official cause of death has not yet been revealed, sources told TMZ that Goins suffered a heart attack while filming “Gold Rush” on set in Colorado. His job on the show had been to work in the gold room, where he separated and cleaned the gold. Members of the crew reportedly found Goins unconscious just outside the gold room, and while he was rushed to the hospital immediately, attempts to revive him proved to be unsuccessful.

Goins appeared in 15 episode of “Gold Rush” working besides Turin as they visited abandoned gold mines around the western U.S. They would then come to a decision on which mine they’d get up and start running again, in the hopes of turning a profit.

Goins’ brother Larry added in a second post that he loved his time on “Gold Rush.”

“I could never find the words to express how grateful to Dave Turin and the guys for the love they showed him,” Larry wrote, according to PEOPLE magazine. “And for sharing and making sure the Lord and the Gospel was a big part of his daily life. He was in such a good place because of this. Love you guys.”

Goins’ fellow cast member Nathan Clark took to social media to post photos of him, describing him as the “kindest soul.”

“I’m truly lost for words right now. We lost the man that I trusted with my future and my kid’s future,” Clark wrote. “Jesse Goins was the kindest soul you could ever have met. Love you brother! Jesse would give up his meal for the man next to him that was not as hungry. #dtlm #goldrush.”
