The future of the British monarchy depends on Prince William and Prince Harry healing their rift, according to the new book “Finding Freedom.”

Page Six reported that royal aides are so panicked about the feud between William and Harry that it was a major topic of discussion during a summit in 2019.

“We need to design a system to protect the monarchy full stop,” one insider said at a palace retreat before Harry and Meghan moved from Kensington Palace to Windsor.

“The future of this monarchy relies solely on the four people currently in Kensington Palace. The public popularity only lies with them,” the source added. “When [Prince Charles] becomes king, the only way it lasts is if the four of them are not at war.”

The relationship between the brothers remains frosty at this time, as William is still upset over how Megxit went down.

“It’s not anger, it’s hurt,” a source is quoted as saying in the book, which was written by royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

The feud stems from when William told Harry to take things slow with his now-wife Meghan Markle when he started dating her. William feared that Harry was “blindsided by lust,” something that offended the younger brother.

“These brothers have spent their whole lives with people trying to take advantage of them,” a friend of Harry’s said. “They’ve both developed a radar to detect that type of person.”

“He’s extremely protective of Meghan,” another close friend added. “He understands that a lot of people are against them, and he will do everything he can to keep her safe and away from getting hurt — even if that means distancing himself from those people.”

As for William’s wife Kate Middleton, a different friend described her as “an extremely guarded person.”

“The distance came from both directions. Harry spent less time going over to see the children, but the invites from William and Kate were the first to dry up,” a source said. “Kate did little to bridge the divide. She was fiercely loyal to her husband and his family.”

This comes after it was reported that the royal family is in panic mode over the release of this book.

“This book is coming out, it’s called ‘Finding Freedom,'” said royal expert Russell Myers. “It’s the unofficial biography of Harry and Meghan and royal aides are quite worried about what sort of light it’s going to paint Prince William in. He’s been called unsympathetic and unfeeling in the book. Royal aides have been meeting behind the scenes preparing for the worst.”

“Some say that it could be the Diana moment from the Panorama 1995 interview that we all remember when she spoke about the three people in the relationship,” Myers went on to add. “The two authors behind this book have had unrivaled access to Harry and Meghan’s inner circle. They’ve interviewed over 100 people. It could be a very, very positive thing for Harry and Meghan but may paint other members of the Royal Family in a particularly bad light.”
