Over the past few weeks, Ellen DeGeneres has been accused of turning a blind eye to racism, intimidation, and sexual misconduct on the set of her talk show. Now, a former camera assistant on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is comparing working on the show to the movie The Devil Wears Prada.

“It’s kind of like ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’ Everyone is trying to make it to the [end of a] year,” the former employee said, according to Page Six. She was referring to the 2006 Meryl Streep movie in which the star plays a demanding magazine editor, who often terrorizes her assistants.

“It’s just a badge of honor to have that and have it on your resume,” the ex-staffer added.

She went on to say that employees of the show often worked 10-hour days, but added the problems were “more than that.”

“It’s basic rights; being paid overtime, water on a hot day,” she said. “If you ask for that, you’re told, well, there’s the door.”

This comes after weeks of other current and former employees making similar claims about DeGeneres. The backlash against her has gotten to be so great that a source with Telepictures came forward to claim that DeGeneres had had enough and was ready to quit.

“She feels she can’t go on and the only way to recover her personal brand from this is to shut down the show,” the source told Daily Mail. “The truth is she knew what was going on, it’s her show. The buck stops with her. She can blame every executive under the sun – but Ellen is ultimately the one to blame.”

“Inside Telepictures we’ve had enough of her. She is a phony who does not practice what she preaches,” the source added. “The behavior of her show executives has been appalling, but [Ellen] is no better. In fact, she is the worst. It’s outrageous that she is trying to pretend that this is all a shock to her. The fish rots from the head, and Ellen is the head.”

It remains to be seen whether DeGeneres’ brand, which revolves around telling people to “be kind” to one another at the end of every show, can ever recover from this.
