A Nebraska police officer was just caught on camera rehanging an American flag that had fallen at an auto-repair shop.

Fox News reported that a security camera at Kearney Tire & Auto Service captured the officer carefully folding the flag and putting it up against the building after he discovered that the flag holder was damaged.

“We were out of town on Sunday and this kind officer stopped to rescue [Old Glory] and show the respect it deserves when our holder broke,” the shop wrote in a Facebook post that has quickly gone viral.

“We were called right away with the issue and we were so thankful. We are blessed by each officer and hold them in the highest regard for all they do to keep us safe. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You!!”

Social media users can’t get enough of the video, as they are touched by the love this cop clearly has for his country.

“Thank You Officer, I would expect no less and demand no more. You are a great American,” one user commented, with another adding, “Thank you officer. That is what every American should do.”

This comes at a time when it seems like both the American flag and police officers are getting less respect than ever before.

Anti-cop and anti-American tensions have each been rising in the weeks since the death of George Floyd, who was killed in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota back in May.

After everything we as a nation have gone through since then, it’s nice to see a police officer giving the American flag the respect that it deserves.

As we all celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, we would all do well to take a page out of this cop’s handbook and do something that shows how much we love the American flag as well.

The American flag and the officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect it need our love now more than ever before.
