New details are coming to light about the rift between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, with one royal author saying that the former was “very sensitive” about being “number two” to her sister-in-law.

Royal author Tom Quinn told the Daily Star Online that during Meghan’s time in the royal family, she often clashed with Kensington Palace staffers about not “getting the sort of attention she deserved.”

He recalled one specific occasion in which Meghan fought with Kate’s staff after they turned down her royal requests.

“It was almost as if in that one encounter, it encapsulated for Meghan the problem that she had, that she’s a Princess and she’s number two,” explained Quinn, who wrote the new book “Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir From Queen Mary To Meghan Markle.”

Quinn added that he personally talked to “someone who was there” and was left feeling “really uncomfortable” after Meghan went at it with a member of Kate’s staff.

Meghan had reportedly asked the staffer to do something, only for the person to respond, by saying, “I’m really sorry I can’t do that because I work for Kate.”

Quinn said that Meghan “really felt she had been put in her place” and said that, as a “princess,” she had “assumed that when you ask staff to do something, they are going to do it.”

He went on to add that Kate was “horrified” by the way Meghan fought with her staffer.

The royal expert felt that Meghan was so upset by the way the staffer talked to her because she was super conscious of not being treated the same as Kate.

“She’s very sensitive about not being treated with the same respect that she feels Kate is, so can react badly and doesn’t take it lying down,” he said, adding that the “alien environment” where “people behave towards you” on the status of who will be the monarch next was “alien” to Meghan.

This comes after a source said that friction formed between Meghan and Kate when they battled over whether Princess Charlotte and the other young bridesmaids should wear tights to her wedding to Prince Harry.

“Kate, following protocol, felt that they should. Meghan didn’t want them to. The photographs suggest that Meghan won,” the source said, according to Daily Mail.

“First off, it was Meghan’s big day, not Kate’s and secondly Meghan was not about to make her god-kids, let alone the other little girls wear tights, it was too hot and sticky and there was just no need for it. Meghan said it really wasn’t an issue until Kate made it an issue.”
