Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were jealous that Prince William and Kate Middleton got all the best official royal roles, according to the bombshell new book “Finding Freedom.”

Daily Mail reported that a source said that even before Harry met Meghan, there was a rivalry between him and his brother.

“It wasn’t a rivalry between the brothers but more a sense that they would be competing over who would lead on their various issues,” said one source. “Harry felt awkward as a plus one. They’d turn up at premieres and there was this sense that he felt a bit like a spare part. Long before Meghan he wanted to change things. He wanted to control his own narrative. He would say, ‘Why can’t we use social media or record videos and cut out the press?'”

Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in “Finding Freedom” that things only got worse when Harry married Meghan, as they quickly became jealous of his older brother and his wife. The book claims that the situation has deteriorated to the point where the couples barely spoke at the recent Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey despite not having seen each other in months.

“Although Meghan tried to make eye contact with Kate, the duchess barely acknowledged her,” the authors said, with Scobie adding, “To purposefully snub your sister-in-law… I don’t think it left a great taste in the couple’s mouth.”

This comes after it was reported that the royal family is in panic mode over this book. Palace sources told Daily Mail that the book will reveal everything about the “pressure cooker” of anger and resentment that Harry and Meghan have built up over time.

“Regardless of the truth, it will make headlines worldwide and give a fulsome airing to the Sussexes’ long list of grievances, yet again,” one source said.

Another insider warned that everyone should expect the book to tell of a “revisionist version of events surrounding their engagement, marriage and their short time as a senior royal couple.”

“It’s going to be the gospel according to Meghan and Harry, so to speak,” this source said. “Everything that has happened in terms of Megxit will be seen through the prism of their take on events. What it’s unlikely to reveal, however, is how it subsequently emerged that Harry and Meghan had been quietly plotting their ‘exit’ from the Royal Family for at least nine months before they finally announced their decision to quit in January this year.”
