Like the rest of the world, the British royal family has been lockdown for months amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

While this has been a very difficult experience for some, body language expert Judi James said that it might actually have been good for Kate Middleton, who seems “much more relaxed” these days.

“It’s given Kate the perfect motivation to drop some of her more formal skills and reveal a much more relaxed and accessible side, and this has allowed some hidden strengths to emerge,” James told the U.K. Express.

“Her body language has always been impeccable, but her lockdown skills of bridging the social distancing via a change in her facial expressions and gesticulations has probably made her the star of the royal video and roadshow.”

This comes after it was speculated that Kate has “struggled” with her senior royal duties in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping down as senior royals.

In contrast to this, a source told People Magazine that she “certainly would resent someone saying that she is struggling.”

“I can understand why she would feel that is a total misrepresentation of the truth, because it really isn’t the case,” the source added.

“If anything, she is relishing the role more than ever. And she will do it all to the best of her ability.”

James appeared to agree with this, saying that lockdown has given Kate more time to spend with her family.

“Kate’s active listening skills have also been notched up,” she added.

“These newly-used, post-lockdown skills seem to have had an interpersonal effect on Kate too, as she looks more relaxed than ever before in her solo roles. They have also subtly promoted her into the role of leader when she’s working, but without making her look remote or inaccessible.”

“Kate Middleton’s lockdown might just have fast-tracked a very important stage in her royal role, from William’s wife to a future queen and sole operator in her own right,” James also said.

Kate’s husband Prince William is second in line for the throne behind his father, Prince Charles.

Her 6 year-old son Prince George will likely be the king someday, as he is third in line behind William.
