Like millions of other parents all over the world, Prince William has spent the past few weeks homeschooling his children amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Now, William is opening up about what this has been like for him, joking that having to remember his math skills has been quite a struggle.

Fox News reported that William, 37, touched on this during a video chat featured in the new BBC documentary “Football, Prince William and Mental Health.”

“Homeschooling is fun, isn’t it?” William joked in the video. “You start to worry about how little you remember from your school days when you can’t do the maths questions at home.”

Joe Hart, a former professional goalie, chimed in to say that he knew nothing about phonics and his 5 year-old actually knew more than he did.

“The challenges of lockdown, hey!” William replied.

William is the father of three children, George, 6, Charlotte, 5, and Louis, 2, with his wife Kate Middleton, who recently discussed the struggles of homeschooling as well.

“George gets very upset because he just wants to do all of [his sister] Charlotte’s projects,” said Kate, 38. “Spider sandwiches are far cooler than literacy work.”

Kate went on to explain that her family has been using FaceTime to stay in touch now more than ever.

“It’s really hard and we hadn’t done a huge amount of FaceTime but we’re doing that a lot more now,” she said. “We try to check in daily with family members and speak to them about the news so in some way we got a lot more contact than before, but it’s hard to explain to a five and six-year-old what’s going on, but we have the support out there from schools.”

When she’s not busy homeschooling her children, Kate has been keeping herself busy pursuing her passions while in isolation.

“I’m very much an amateur photographer, but I take a lot of time now to pick my camera and take pictures of the kids,” she explained. “It’s not about setting it up perfectly or clearing your home for the studio set up, but it’s capturing that moment, feeling or expression to tell that story.”

It’s comforting to see that the royals are just trying to get through quarantine like the rest of us are right now. We really are all in this together!
