New details are coming to light about Meghan Markle‘s “rift” with the British royal family, as a major royal insider is saying it started just four days after her wedding to Prince Harry.

Author Lady Colin Campbell, 70, just revealed in a new interview that Meghan got off on the wrong foot with the royal family right after her wedding.

“I knew the tremendous amount of hope the Royal Family invested in Meghan being a success,” Campbell told The Daily Star. “Hundreds of millions of people of color were rooting for Meghan, I was rooting for Meghan, being a Jamaican, I was emotionally invested in Meghan’s success. Virtually everybody I know, including my Royal friends, the wider aristocracy, wanted Meghan to be a success. But it quickly became apparent the ride may not be as smooth as everybody had hoped it would be, and it would not be as quite as positive as everybody had hoped it would be.”

Campbell, who is preparing for the release of her new book “Meghan and Harry: The Real Story,” claimed that during a garden party celebrating both Prince Charles’ charity work and his 70th birthday, Meghan did something that allegedly “astonished” an attendee with “impeccable palace connections.”

“I can’t repeat it exactly, it’s in the book, but what I can say is, something happened at the very first garden party at Buckingham Palace…we were all absolutely gobsmacked and astonished, we all thought this doesn’t bode well,” Campbell explained.

This comes after reports came out indicating that Meghan and Harry had been planning their “Megxit” from the British royal family before they even got married. Dr. Jane Goodall spoke out to allege that Harry told her one year before he left the royal family that he and Meghan did not want to raise their son Archie in that environment.

“I made Archie do the Queen’s wave, saying, ‘I suppose he’ll have to learn this.’” Goodall claimed, according to Page Six. “Harry said, ‘No, he’s not growing up like that.’”

The upcoming book Finding Freedom is set to shatter the notion that Meghan was the driving force behind “Megxit,” a it was instead allegedly Harry who drove their exodus from the royal family.

“That word ‘Megxit’ in particular has always angered Prince Harry. It gives the impression that the decision to walk away from the Royal Family was Meghan’s,” a publishing insider said. “The reality is Harry drove that decision. The book will make that clear and explain why it had to happen. The truth is Harry had been unhappy for a long, long time.”
