New reports are coming in stating that Meghan Markle has cut off her former best friend, Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney, after she found herself embroiled in a humiliating “white privilege” scandal.

Fox News reported that Mulroney was fired from all of her television gigs and was publicly shamed earlier this month after she was caught threatening to sue black fashion influencer Sasha Exeter. Though Meghan has not commented on the scandal, a source close to her is saying that she has ended her friendship with Mulroney over it.

“Meghan could not get over that Jessica brought up her relationship with Meghan when she commented about her ‘closest friend’ in the discourse with Sasha,” the source told Us Weekly. “That was hugely offensive to Meghan and the deciding factor for her. Meghan considers the relationship to be done.”

Another insider said that the pair’s relationship was already on the rocks before this scandal, which has given Meghan the excuse she needed to “distance herself” from Mulroney for good.

“Especially now that Meghan is in L.A. and it’s a sensitive time, Meghan is being very cautious with her affiliations,” the source said.

This comes after Exeter posted a nearly-12-minute video in which she explained that this all started when she shared a “generic” call to action for Black Lives Matter on her Instagram story, adding that Mulroney “took offense” to it.

“What happened next was a series of very problematic behavior and antics that ultimately resulted in [Mulroney] sending me a threat in writing last Wednesday,” Exeter said.

Another source previously told Daily Mail that Meghan was “mortified” by the scandal.

“Meghan is absolutely mortified that she’s been dragged into this complete mess. She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking,” a close friend of Meghan’s said.

“Meghan said friends reflect friends and because of what’s at stake she can no longer be associated with Jessica, at least not in public,” the friend added. “She has to do what she has to do in order to preserve her dignity and her own reputation.”
