Heather Locklear of “Melrose Place” fame has announced that she is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Chris Heisser, who was her high school sweetheart.

A source told People magazine that Locklear and Heisser have “been engaged since the end of April, as they were celebrating her year of sobriety.”

“They are really happy together,” the friend of Locklear’s said. “Her family, her parents, her siblings, and her daughter are all supporting her and excited for her.”

My favorite person on earth. 40 years later

Locklear and Heisser were reportedly high school sweethearts who reconnected a few years ago, and they have dated off and on ever since.

This comes after Locklear went through a tumultuous few years. In 2019, she pleaded no contest to eight misdemeanor counts that resulted from her two arrests in 2018. She ended up being sentenced to an informal three-year probation, and had to complete a court-ordered 30-day stint in a private rehab facility.

When Locklear celebrated her one year sobriety anniversary back in April, a source said that she was “in a great place.”

“She’s strong and clear-headed,” the source explained, adding that Locklear had also been enjoying gardening, taking walks and cooking.

“She cooks for herself, Ava and her parents,” the source continued, referring to her daughter Ava Sambora. “It’s very sweet. Her dad is close to 91, and her mom is in her 80s, and she delivers food to them often. It’s really amazing to see how she managed to turn things around.”

Last week, Locklear shared a video to Instagram in which she thanked everyone for the hard work they have done throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are all going through a challenging time right now,” she said, according to Fox News. “I at first want to say thank you to all the first responders, to the people who you order from and they deliver, the deliveries, the doctors, the nurses, the EMTs, everyone who helps us, the bank tellers, people who are working and maybe being susceptible.”

“We will get through this by staying apart,” she added.
