Hollywood A-list star Gwyneth Paltrow is speaking out this week to talk about the “new perspective” months of quarantine has given her amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

The 47 year-old Iron Man star told Shape magazine that before going into quarantine due to COVID-19, she had no idea “how much the normal pace of life was overburdening our bodies, our minds, and our nervous systems.”

“As we have been forced into the confines of our own homes, that has brought up a lot of emotional distress for some, and for others it has been very peaceful. In my case, I have experienced both,” Paltrow explained.

Introducing our July/August issue featuring actor and Goop founder #GwynethPaltrow. Back in May when we were producing the issue, #GwynethPaltrow insisted she interview California’s first surgeon general Nadine Burke Harris, M.D. to find out how the stress of the pandemic impacts our health. “I was intrigued that we’d never had a surgeon general in California. When I saw that Dr. Burke Harris was a female African American M.D. and had spent her career helping children who’d grown up in adverse childhoods in disenfranchised neighborhoods, I watched her TED Talk. And I sort of fell in love with her.” #LinkInBio to watch their fascinating Zoom interview and learn how Dr. Burke Harris is working to transform the way society responds to stress.

The actress added that she has now started to “settle down” in her “brain and body.”

“It has given me new perspective about how much I will take on going forward,” the Academy Award winner said.

Paltrow admitted that while she was constantly trying to get “wellness moments” in before quarantine, but she wasn’t “really decompressing” until the weekends or on vacations.

“Now I feel different, letting my body go to sleep and wake up in its natural rhythm, having my kids around all the time, eating meals together and having meaningful conversations,” she said of her two teenage children that she shares with her ex Chris Martin. “We linger at the table; our dinners are an hour and a half long. My heart feels fuller, and my mind feels calmer in that respect.”

When it comes to de-stressing, Paltrow said, “I try to do exercises every day for my back and neck because of all the Zoom calls I’m on.”

Fox News reported that this comes two months after Paltrow announced that she would be donating a dress she wore to the Oscars in 2000 to help raise money for coronavirus relief. She did this as part of the All In challenge, which was launched by Leonardo DiCaprio and gives contestants a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime fan experiences with celebrities.

Paltrow said at the time that she thought this dress was a “good one to donate” because its “end of the 90s” style has since made a comeback in the fashion world. Fans quickly called her out, however, when an interview from last year surfaced in which Paltrow described the gown as boring and just “okay.”
