It has just been revealed that the beloved “Days of Our Lives” star Judi Evans nearly had to have both of her legs amputated as she suffered serious complications while battling coronavirus.

This was confirmed to Fox News by Howie Simon, the publicist of the 55 year-old actress who is best known for playing Adrienne Kiriakis on the long running soap opera. He said that she contracted coronavirus during a more than 20-day hospital stay as she recovered from a horseback riding accident.

“She is still in the hospital and she is still having issues with blood clotting easily because of contracting COVID-19, however she has tested negatively the last several days, so that is a positive sign,” Simon said. He added that doctors found “COVID-related blood clots” in Evans’ legs and both were “nearly amputated” on two separate occasions.

“She nearly had both legs amputated on two different occasions,” he continued. “On top of everything, when she went into surgery on one of her legs, they forgot to numb the leg and cut into her leg while she was fully conscience with no numbing of the area!”

Evans reportedly experienced “mild” symptoms of the virus, including a fever, body aches and a cough. On top of that, she has had to contend with the injuries from her horseback riding accident, which left her with a broken collarbone, seven broken ribs, two chipped vertebra and a collapsed lung from blunt force trauma.

Simon said he recently spoke to Evans, and despite everything she has gone through, she’s returned to her funny normal self. He made sure to add that she is extremely grateful for all the well wishes that she continues to receive from her devoted fans.

“However speaking to her on Sunday, she was in good spirits and back to Judi ‘humor’ despite all these spiraling turn of events. She has said she appreciates all the prayers for her and they’ve helped her mentally, physically and spiritually!” he said. “She just wants to continue to test negative on COVID19 before she can go home and get the rest she so needs!!!”

Evans has been appeared in nearly 700 episodes of “Days Of Our Lives” since joining the show back in 1986. She told “Good Morning America” on Tuesday morning that she was only tested for COVID-19 after she personally requested to be.

“They had taken down a few tests without a mask on,” she said. “[They tested me] and it came back positive.”

Please keep Judi Evans in your thoughts and prayers as she continues to battle against this deadly virus.
