New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis is not only known for his talents on the field as leader of his team’s defense, he’s also known for his strong Christian faith. Now, in an unprecedented time of uncertainty and fear due to the coronavirus, Davis is speaking out to offer a powerful message of hope to his fellow Americans.

Last year, Davis became a household name when he was fined by the NFL for wearing a headband during games that proudly displayed the phrase “Man Of God.” He accepted responsibility for his actions and launched an appeal of the fine, but he also managed to use the scandal to help others by selling “Man Of God” merchandise, pledging to give 100 percent of the proceeds to St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.

After the NFL repealed the fine, Davis eventually raised an astounding $120,000 for the hospital, which just goes to show what kind of person he really is at his core. This past week, he appeared on Fox Nation’s “Bible Study: Messages of Hope” to try and spread some hope in the time of COVID-19.

“Life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it,” Davis explained. “This is totally unexpected and a time like no other… frankly, everybody is ready for it to be over, we can just be hopeful and know that we’re going make it to the other side.”

“The Bible tells us in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good for those called according to his purpose,” the NFL star continued. “It doesn’t say that all things will be good, but all things work together for good. We don’t know what good will come out on the other side. But we know that all things work together for good… This situation shows us how very much not in control we are, but God is always in control and he has a plan.”

Davis went on to encourage Americans to make the most of the times we are living in and to be grateful for what they do have.

“While things are going slow, just look around you and see there’s so much that you can be grateful for,” concluded Davis, “Having a roof over your head. Having food to eat. Having loved ones around you. This has slowed us down a lot and don’t take that for granted.”
