Singer Miley Cyrus has admitted that she has “no idea” what the deadly coronavirus pandemic is really like because she is in a bubble as a member of the Hollywood elite.

Cyrus opened up about what life is like for amidst the coronavirus pandemic as she promoted her new new Instagram live talk show “Bright Minded.” Unlike many celebrities, however, the 27 year-old singer readily admits that she doesn’t know what life is like under this pandemic for the average American.

“This isn’t Covid-19, what I’m experiencing. My life has been pushed pause on, but really I have no idea what this pandemic is like,” she told WSJ. Magazine. “I am comfortable in my space and able to put food on my table and [I am] financially stable, and that’s just not the story for a lot of people.”

Cyrus, who is riding out this pandemic in her California home, has been staying busy interviewing celebrities like Elton John, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez on her show. She explained that she has managed to book A-list celebrities simply by sliding into their DMs and asking directly if they want to appear on her show.

“I’m sure a lot of the hesitation for other people saying yes to doing the show is because it almost doesn’t feel right for celebrities to share our experience. Because it just doesn’t compare,” Cyrus added.

This comes after many celebrities have been slammed for their tone deaf responses to coronavirus. Most notably, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot and other celebrities like Kristen Wiig, James Marsden and Natalie Portman were blasted back in March for singing the song “Imagine” on social media in an attempt to bring people hope. It did not go over well at all, with social media users branding the video “cringy” and saying it just made the celebrities look out of touch with reality.

Cyrus went on to talk about why her show is not your average talk show.

“This show makes people nervous because it’s not the usual talk show format. It’s intimate, and you don’t have your team when you’re [filmling] at home,” Cyrus said. “You don’t have your publicist and your glam and all the things. You’re letting people into your space, and you’re controlling the tech and all that stuff.”

In upcoming episodes of the show, Cyrus plans to talk about current issues like financial problems and the housing crisis amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“None of that’s going away,” Cyrus said. “Many of these issues are being highlighted because of Covid-19, but they existed before and they’re going to continue to exist and get worse.”
