A Florida woman has tragically tested positive for coronavirus which she contracted at a rehabilitation center after she miraculously survived being mauled by a pack of dogs.

The New York Post reported that Debbie Beaulieu was in her backyard in Spring Hill on February 7 when the vicious canines attacked both her and her own dogs.

“I don’t even know to this day how she survived that,” her son-in-law Falcon Dinis told WFLA. “Her skull is gone completely from here to the entire back. Her leg, it was pretty much eaten away. They had to shorten her leg two inches to make all of the blood vessel connections.”

Beaulieu was so severely injured that she flatlined twice during various surgeries, but she managed to persevere and beat the odds to survive. Unfortunately, things got even worse for Beaulieu once she got to her rehab center.

“She ended up contracting the coronavirus, and at the moment, she fought it through,” Falcon explained. “And I don’t know how she does it.”

Days after the attack, Beaulieu’s daughter Christina Dinis recalled the specifics of how it happened.

“She was pretty much being tossed around like a chew toy by the four dogs,” she told WFTS. “She’s a tiny little woman so the fact that she’s alive is amazing.”

Thankfully, Beaulieu has managed to beat COVID-19 just like she’s beaten everything else that has been thrown at her this year, but she remains hospitalized with her injuries and Falcon said her family is worried about how she will pay her medical bills.

“And I tell her all the time, I speak to her, I tell her, ‘You don’t have nothing to worry about, Mom. I got it all,’” he said. “’Just keep fighting and the rest we’ll take care of.’”

Christina spoke out to give credit to the neighbors who risked their own safety to fight off the dogs during the attack.

“They saved her life. I’m so grateful for them. The bites they took, would have been more on her, could have killed her completely,” she said.

Falcon added that despite everything she’s been through, Beaulieu will be released from the hospital soon.

“That day is going to be one of the happiest days of my life — besides seeing my daughters being born,” he said. “I think that will be the same way.”
