Yesterday, we reported that country music star Cady Groves had tragically passed away at the age of 30 over the weekend, with her specific cause of death not being revealed. Now, her family is speaking out to beg her fans not to speculate about what happened to the young singer.

Cady’s record label Vel Records confirmed her death in a lengthy statement to Yahoo News that also discussed how her family is dealing with her passing. In the statement, the label said that “the fresh-faced singer-songwriter whose EP A Month of Sundays launched a career that empowered and entertained teens, tweens and 20-somethings for more than a decade” died at her home in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Her death appears to be from natural causes, pending a final coroner’s report. Foul play and self-harm have both been ruled out by the coroner,” the statement continued, going on to ask “as her admirers mourn her loss online, Cady’s family requests fans refrain from speculation. Cady was excited about her new recordings and getting out on the road to support them. It is hoped the EP she was slated to release this summer will be available soon.”

This came after Cady’s brother Cody announced her death on Sunday.

He went on to issue a lengthier statement after “twisted misinformation” began so spread online about his sister. Cody explained in this tweet that “there was no indication of foul play or self harm. Simply put, Cady Groves died of natural causes,” adding that his sister suffered from unspecified medical problems last fall that could have “resurfaced.”

Fans had been speculating for weeks about Cady’s mental health, as she had been open about struggling with life in self-isolation amidst the coronavirus pandemic. However, she also appeared to be putting a positive spin on things by focusing on sending uplifting messages to her fans.

Week..6? Haven’t left my house but about 3 times and that was just to drive around in my car so I wouldn’t go insane. I don’t have a television, so I’ve had to REALLY just be alone with myself and my thoughts and fears and anxiety in my bedroom without anybody here in Nashville. Some days my mental health is AWFUL. I feel completely alone and scared and far from everyone I love and all I can do is keep myself busy and push through. Some days are better. I know that the way I feel isn’t special because we are ALL living through this separately, but together. It’s okay to be scared and to have days where you just cry and wear your hair in a bun and don’t change out of your pajamas. But it’s also okay to take it day by day-like I did today-and have hope. My heart is with you all. ❤️

While it’s understandable that fans want answers about what caused this young woman’s death, it’s more important right now that her family be given privacy to grieve in peace. Cady’s family will share more details about her cause of death if and when they are ready to do so, but for right now, it’s none of our business.
