Weeks after beating coronavirus himself, Hollywood star Tom Hanks has sent a very special gift to a little boy who is being bullied because his name is Corona.

Fox News reported that Hanks was stunned when he received a letter from a little boy in Australia who wanted to know how he and his wife Rita Wilson were doing after testing positive for coronavirus.

“I heard on the news you and your wife had caught the Coronavirus. Are you ok?” 8 year-old Corona De Vries wrote. “I love my name but at school, people call me the Coronavirus. I get very sad and angry when people call me this.”

Hanks was so touched by the letter that he replied with a note of his own as well as a gift of a manual Corona typewriter for the boy.

“Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful,” Hanks wrote. “Thank you for being such a good friend. Friends make their friends feel good when they are down. I saw you on TV, even though I was back in the USA already—and all healthy. Even though I was no longer sick, getting your letter made me feel even better.”

“You know, you are the only person I’ve ever known to have the name Corona – like the ring around the sun, a crown,” the Castaway star added. “I thought this typewriter would suit you. Ask a grown up how it works. And use it to write me back.”

Hanks and Wilson were two of the first celebrities to reveal that they had tested positive for COVID-19 last month, and they learned of their diagnosis down under in Australia, where they were filming a movie. They have thankfully since both beaten the virus, and are back at their home in Los Angeles, California.

Hanks has been open about just how difficult his battle with COVID-19 really was.

“I was wiped after 12 minutes [of exercising]. I laid down in my hospital bed and just slept,” Hanks told National Defense Radio Show.

The actor went on to recall telling a medical professional who was treating him, “‘I just had the weirdest thing. I just tried to do basic stretches and exercises on the floor and I couldn’t even get halfway through.’ And she looked at me through her glasses like she was talking to the dumbest human being. And she said, ‘You have Covid-19.'”
