Television productions all over Hollywood have been shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, “Last Man Standing” star Tim Allen is opening up about what it was like to have production of his beloved sitcom forced to end mid-season.

The FOX sitcom had to stop shooting episodes before the final episode of the season was completed, so there will not be a season finale this year.

“We were so close…[production was shut down] one day before we were going to shoot everything,” Allen told Fox News.

“Everybody was ready to go, the actors were comfortable that none of us were infected so we were cool being in [close] proximity, the crew was going to move back a little bit.”

It was then that an order came down from higher ups at the network to end production immediately.

Despite not being able to finish off this season as he had hoped, Allen is still excited for what’s to come.

“Kaitlyn Dever was on for the last two shows, which we love having her back,” he said. “It’s a birth show, and I don’t want to give the whole idea away because it’s pretty obvious who is pregnant, but there’s other news in there that’s really kind of cool.”

Allen also let fans know that there will be a “pseudo-finale” that will set up the various storylines for next season, and this will likely play out in the season premiere.

“It’s something to anticipate,” said Allen, adding that as an actor “it was really a weird way to end.”

“It was real peculiar. We’re all feeling like it was a half-cooked piece of bread,” he said.

“Or a rain delay at a baseball game. You’re all ready to go, you’re winning, it’s eight to four, everything’s good, you’ve got your best players in and the rain came and they’re going to cancel the game.”

This serves as a reminder that virtually all industries have been impacted by this pandemic, even the world of Hollywood.

While fans of “Last Man Standing” are undoubtedly disappointed by the fact that this season won’t have the ending that was originally planned, we’re sure that the show will be back and better than ever in the fall.
