Pastor Joel Osteen held his annual Easter Service virtually today, and it included such A-list stars as Mariah Carey and Tyler Perry, who videoed in while quarantining in their homes amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Perry, who was a minister before launching his career as a Hollywood director and actor, was eager to speak at Osteen’s service.

“This is a moment in our country and our world that’s a reset for all of us to take a minute and realize how much we take for granted,” Perry said. “How much just going for a walk with the dog we take for granted, how much just being able to hang out with people we take for granted, how much we’ve taken for granted the time that we spend with our loved ones, how much we take for granted even going to the house of worship.”

Perry went on to reflect on the reset he is seeing throughout our culture due to COVID-19.

“I’ve never seen other people asking people to pray this much. I’ve never seen so many people praying, calling out to God, it’s a beautiful thing in all this tragedy,” he said. “In all of this our prayer and my hope is with the first responders and everything they’re doing to keep us safe.”

Perry concluded his speech by giving churchgoers a message of hope.

“After this thing is over, and it will come to end — after this moment has passed — my hope and my prayer is that we not return to being so busy that we don’t see God,” the media mogul said. “So much to do that we don’t take the time to send love to people around us, that we don’t return vitriol and mean-speak of evil of each one and everybody. That we learn to love and embrace each other.”

Another highlight of the service came when Carey honored first responders with an emotional performance of her song “Hero.” The singer explained on her YouTube channel that the song was dedicated to “the first responders, the doctors, the nurses, the midwives, the domestic workers, the store clerks, the janitors, the postal workers, the pharmacists, the delivery workers and so many more!”

“Thank you so much,” she said at the end of the performance. “Love you.”

Rapper Kanye West and his choir had been scheduled to perform at the service as well, but they had to cancel at the last minute due to social distancing guidelines. Check out the full service for yourself below!
