As coronavirus continues to ravage the world and spread like wildfire, fears are growing for Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip. At 93 and 98 years of age respectively, they would be considered high risk for complications should they test positive for COVID-19, so people all over the world are praying that they won’t be exposed.

On Friday, the couple’s grandson Prince William spoke out to confess that he is worried about the health of his grandparents in the midst of this pandemic. The virus has already hit close to home for William, as his 71 year-old father Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19 last month. Though Charles was thankfully able to beat the illness that has killed thousands of people from all over the globe, William fears that his grandparents would not be so lucky.

“Obviously I think very carefully about my grandparents, who are at the age they’re at, and we’re doing everything we can to make sure that they’re isolated away and protecting them. But it does worry me. What’s going to happen to the lost and the vulnerable people and the high-risk people who are going to have to potentially isolate away for quite some time and the impact that’s going to have on them and on families up and down the country?” William, 37, told the BBC.

Joined by his wife Kate Middleton for this interview, William went on to stress the importance of mental health during this pandemic.

“A lot of people won’t necessarily have thought about their mental health for maybe ever before, ” William explained. “And suddenly this environment we’re in catches up on them quite quick. I think the most important thing is talking. I think it’s always under-estimated how much talking can do..”

“We mustn’t forget our mental well-being as well,” Kate said.

The Queen and her husband have been self-isolating at Windsor Castle for the past few weeks in the hopes of avoiding exposure to coronavirus. Earlier this month, the Queen delivered a rare address from Windsor to offer a message of hope to her subjects as well as to the world at large.

“I hope in the years to come, everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge, and those who come after us will say that the Britons of this generation were as strong as any,” the Queen said. “That the attributes of self-discipline, of quiet good-humored resolve and of fellow-feeling still characterize this country.”

Please join us in saying a prayer for the Queen and Philip during this difficult time!
