Dogs. We can’t even begin to understand the silly yet sweet train of thought when it comes to play time. It’s incredible how creative our furry friends can get.

This golden retriever can fit a record-breaking amount of tennis balls in his mouth — but breaking records isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Apparently paperwork has stopped his achievements from being formally recognized.

Finley, 6, is capable of fitting six whole tennis balls in his mouth at once.

The current Guinness World Record, set in 2003 by a Texas golden retriever named Augie for only five.

ONLY FIVE.

Finley’s parents, Cheri and Rob Molloy of Ontario County, New York, tell the Democrat & Chronicle that the pup’s talents emerged when he was around 2 years old. Cheri had taken him to a local lake when her daughter, Erin, noticed “he’s trotting over to me with four tennis balls in his mouth,” says Erin.

Despite much documentation of Finley’s abilities on his Instagram account, though, Guinness’ harsh paperwork requirements have prevented the dog from getting in the book.

The family has been in touch with Guinness officials but say the process of making a new record is challenging and requires a good deal of work.

Finley doesn’t seem to mind though, he’s living his best life.
