A dog was found keeping five little kittens warm on the side of the road in Chatham, Ontario.

Pet and Wildlife Rescue said an animal control officer picked up the family of six after a “good citizen” spotted them in mid-November and called the shelter in Canada.

The dog, now named Serenity, is thought to be about two years old. The shelter where she’s staying is currently taking applications for the pup and say she’ll be ready to go to her new home after she’s spayed on December, 3.

Pet and Wildlife Rescue said the kittens are “resting peacefully in a warm foster home” until they are old enough to be adopted in a few months.

The dog is taking good care of her kittens, however they will be separated at some point.

Apparently, it’s what is best for Serenity to be adopted as soon as possible and spend as little time in the shelter.

Our stray sweetheart is keeping her “babies” safe at the shelter tonight!
