This gives “ring of fire” an entirely new meaning.

Get this: while battling the Getty Fire in California, firefighters found a small ring box outside a house that burned down. When they got the the ring back to its rightful owner they wound up uncovering something so much more.

Apparently, houses in the area previously burned down in the 1961 Bel Air Fire and the ring they found survived that fire too!

The Los Angeles Fire Department posted a photo of the found ring to its Facebook page, with an explanation of its amazing history.

They said, “On October 30th, Engine 89 was working at the fire and found a small ring box out in front of the only home destroyed in that section of the street. Sitting there all by itself. When they opened it and saw the beautiful ring inside, they just knew this would be very important to the homeowner. They delivered it to the Command Post.”

According to the LAFD, officers from the department returned to the area a few days later to look for the ring’s owner.

The post continued, “They found her. That ring belonged to her mother…who lived in the home when it was destroyed in 1961 and this ring – it was the only thing that survived. Her mother was with her in the home when they had to evacuate last week. And now, the ring is again the survivor…finding its way to a spot where firefighters ‘rescued’ it.”

Officials said the owner was “speechless and beyond happy to have the ring back.”

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Getty Fire burned 745 acres and at least 10 homes were destroyed.
