A typical thing that happens during weddings is all of the events are on “bride and groom time” — which makes sense because its their day.

Do you ever catch yourself thinking couldn’t they just bring dinner out on time? Wouldn’t it be nice if cocktail hour wasn’t three hours long or they didn’t run out of hors d’oeuvres before you decided you were hungry?

Is it asking too much for them to be considerate of the timing of events? After all — if they expect you to party afterwards then you need to be your best right? You’d think.

One couple is facing A LOT of backlash from family and friends because they’re planning a sunrise beach wedding at 5:30 a.m. — apparently its too early.

Hard to argue with that…

For some reason people these days feel comfortable seeing the advice of complete strangers all over the world on a public forum such as Reddit and this anonymous bride is no different.

She decided to share her wedding drama story, in which wedding guests demanded that their wedding, scheduled for next summer, be moved to a more “normal time.”

The bride to be wrote, “We decided we wanted to incorporate this into our wedding.” She explained, “Our plan is to have our ceremony on the beach the and have everyone walk over to a beachfront restaurant for breakfast, bloody Marys and mimosas (we’ve already talked to the restaurant owner about this, who loves the idea and said he’d be happy to open early for us).”

She continues, “after that, everyone is free for the remainder of the day. Our friends and family are mostly local and should all be able to travel to the beach in under an hour, except for some extended family flying in from Canada, but that’s unavoidable.

Can guests wear their pajamas and roll up in slippers with their night guards in?

As a couple she says, “We’ve been getting a LOT of backlash from our families about this, who say this is way too early and we need to move the ceremony to a more ‘normal’ time of day.” She adds, “but my fiancé and I don’t feel like we’re asking for anything that unreasonable. AITA?”

FYI AITA means, “am I the asshole?”

Reddit users appeared to be indifferent on the wedding’s start time.

One user said, “If they aren’t 100% thrilled to be there, they shouldn’t be at a wedding full stop. You don’t pander to guests at your wedding,” one commenter wrote.

Another user disagreed, writing, “I wouldn’t attend this wedding, that’s a crazy time, however it’s your wedding, so do you. Just be aware there may be low attendance.”

Comments proceeded from both directions.

Would you attend this wedding?
