It’s always amazing to see the unique creatures and things that we can find in nature. Just when we think we’ve seen it all, something new surfaces the likes of which we have never seen before. Now, a bug has been discovered that is being described as too beautiful for words.

Margaret Neville lives on a farm in South Africa, and she loves taking walks around the grounds of it. She’s seen a lot of unusual things in nature on her walks, but she recently saw something that had her stopping dead in her tracks.

As Margaret passed one of her lavender bushes she saw a bug, but this was not an ugly one like most bugs are. Instead, this bug was breathtakingly gorgeous. In fact, Margaret thought it was too beautiful to be real!

“I was amazed at first sight,” Margaret said, with her friend Kerri Martinaglia adding. “When I saw her, I thought she was an exquisite work of art.”

The body of the bug looks like glass, and it is adorned with incredible green wings. Most people’s favorite thing about the bug is the pink flower lumps on its legs and body, which almost look like tiny pink flower buds.

Margaret later learned that the bug was actually a flower mantis, a species of mantis that can camouflage themselves in flowers. No wonder they’re so pretty!

After naming her new bug friend Miss Frilly, Margaret gently put it back in the lavender, but this was not the end of their friendship.

“She has spent the entire month of September living on my lavender,” Margaret explained. “She is still there now.”

Miss Frilly has recently found a male suitor, and Margaret is now hoping they will soon have babies so they can bring even more beauty into the world.
