Shannon Vivar.

That’s the 27-year-old woman who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

She risked her family’s life to save another.

Vivar, her mother Shirley, and Shannon’s 3-year-old child were on their way home when Shirley noticed a Jeep showing no intention of stopping at its red light.

Shannon took action and drove her Chevy Cruz into the Jeep, stopping it from hitting the pedestrians trying to cross the street.

The people were trying to cross Indian School at 53rd Avenue. While she did suffer injuries, they were not life-threatening.

The City of Phoenix Police Department reported, a Chevy Cruz on 53rd Avenue entered the intersection on a green light when a Jeep driven by Ernesto Otanez Oveso, 28 slammed into that car, just a few feet away from pedestrians.

Oveso and another passenger in the car attempted to flee the scene when Oveso noticed a witness was following him and told that man to stop — he went as far to stab one of the doors on his car.

The woman with Oveso at the time of the crash was not located.

The driver was arrested on DUI and aggravated assault charges.

Police also found a gun in the Jeep so an additional charge was tacked on.
