Parenting is one of the most difficult jobs that a person can do, but it is also one of the most rewarding.

Parents today grew up in a completely different time, and kids have to adjust to a totally different world today than we did when we were young. Back in my day, parents were strict and children had to do chores around the house while also keeping up with their homework. It was annoying at the time when our parents were strict, but they actually did us a huge favor because they taught us about responsibility and about how to handle situations on our own.

When raising a child, it is important to remember that you are raising a future parent, employee, and friend. Being a “mean parent” has nothing to do with violence or evil. Instead, being a mean parent means making your child follow every single rule that you set in your home.

That’s why Liz Nielman is proud to be a mean mom.

Liz always punishes her children when they do not follow her rules. Being tired is no excuse for them not to do their chores, and she doesn’t let them sit around watching television and playing video games all the time. Liz keeps them busy by signing them up for piano lessons and sports, which they have to go to even when they do not feel like it.

Liz has said that being a popular parent has never been a priority for her. She prioritizes raising responsible children over being a popular mom, and she knows that this will help her kids in the long run. It gets hard to be tough on your kids at times, but always remember that being a “mean parent” is crucial to their overall wellbeing going forward.
